Apricot Tree Ujan to screen Iran’s doc ‘Kal Fatemeh’

Iranian documentary ‘Kal Fatemeh’ has been set to vie at the 2021 edition of the Apricot Tree Ujan International Documentary Film Festival in Armenia.

Directed by Mehdi Zamanpour-Kiasari, the documentary is about Fatemeh, an elderly woman who lives with her two sons on a farm on the outskirts of Zerum Village in Iran’s northern province of Mazandaran.

She runs a farm and rears cattle for a living, meeting many challenges. She grieves over her daughter who has had an unhappy past.

‘Kal Fatemeh’ has also been set to vie at the 2021 Kazan International Muslim Film Festival in Russia in September.

The 2021 edition of the Apricot Tree Ujan International Documentary Film Festival will be held on August 22-29.

The goal of the festival is to acquaint audiences with the customs and traditions, arts and craft of big and small nations and to interest young filmmakers in the ethnographic and anthropologic material, stimulating their creative search in that direction.

The festival is as much a celebration of documentary films that depict the heartbeats of diverse ethnic groups, communities or groups of people, as it is a platform where filmmakers from around the world can meet, share and discuss ideas in a clear atmosphere and possibly make plans for future collaborations.

‘Meeting’ by Reza Majlesi, ‘Beloved’ by Yasser Talebi and ‘Jafar Najafi’ by Jafar Najafi, all from Iran, were among the winners at the previous edition of the Armenian event.
